Why Factory Cleaning Services are Essential
As the UK lockdown guidelines begin to loosen, many people have been focusing on return to work. However, many factory workers have continued to work hard throughout the coronavirus crisis, making factory cleaning services more essential than ever before. This helps to provide a safe and clean environment for workers, keeping the risk of infection low, as well as providing safe services to customers.
The UK Government has provided an online guide to working safely in factories, plants and warehouses. If there are any known or suspected cases of coronavirus at your factory, please refer to government guidelines on how to clean in non-healthcare settings.
Importance of Factory Cleaning Services
With the rise in demand for providing cleaner working environments, using factory cleaning services can be a big help. By having a team to assist with the increase in cleaning, you will limit the distractions to work flow and employee productivity.
Furthermore, commercial cleaning specialists will have a wider knowledge of the cleaning products and techniques necessary to provide a safer working environment. They can also offer advice on how to introduce higher levels of hygiene among the factory and it's employees and how to keep up with new government guidelines.
Below we have a guide on how to get started.
Employee Hygiene and Safety
Many places of work have set strict guidelines to manage employee safety. In addition to providing personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand sanitisers many companies are asking employees to have their temperature checked before entering the premises.
Throughout your factory, display signs which guide on correct handwashing techniques and frequency. This will help employees to know when and how to sanitise their hands and to use the hand drying facilities provided, whether it is paper towels or electrical hand dryers.
Don't forget to also guide your employees on not touching their faces and to safely dispose of tissues which have been coughed or sneezed into. It will also be helpful to introduce more waste disposal units and arrange more regular rubbish collections.
Where possible, try to keep your environment well ventilated. This can be done by keeping windows and doors open.
Work Space Cleaning
Factory cleaning services should be routine to maintain the new level of hygiene required. Between uses, work areas and equipment should be regularly cleaned using cleaning products you would usually use. Objects and surfaces which are high touch points should also be routinely cleaned, including - but not limited to - the following:
-
Door handles
-
Pump handles
-
Printers
-
Machine buttons
At the end of every shift, employees should remove all waste and belongings from their work areas. This will allow space for it to be cleaned, ready to use again.
Washroom Hygiene
With washrooms and portable toilets being a communal space, take extra care with washroom cleaning. Toilets, sinks, taps, door handles, hand dryers, surfaces and any other touchpoints should undergo routine cleans.
In factory settings where changing facilities and showers are required, display clear guidelines on how to use the spaces so that they are kept clean, free from personal belongings and workers are socially distanced. Enhanced cleaning of all washroom facilities should be introduced throughout and at the end of each day.
Handling Objects
All equipment and vehicles should be cleaned after each use, including forklift trucks and pallet trucks. Any vehicles which are driven home by employees should also be subjected to regular cleaning, in addition to reusable delivery boxes.
